All submissions must be received by noon on Thursday the week prior to publication. Restoration Advisory Board The Moody Restoration Advisory Board is scheduled to meet April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Valdosta City Hall Annex, 300 N. Lee Street,Valdosta, Ga. The Restoration Advisory Board is made up of community members and Air Force representatives that meet annually to discuss activities related to the cleanup of environmental sites that were produced at Moody from past disposal practices and operations. Protocol office looking for next NCO The Moody protocol office will continue interviewing for the NCO position during the months of April and May. The office is looking for eager NCOs to volunteer to represent the 23rd Wing and Moody. The protocol office consists of one company grade officer and one NCO. The interview process will consist of an interview with the protocol office, shadowing of events, event coordination, and an interview with the wing commander. General prerequisites include: · Member must be a staff sergeant or technical sergeant without a line number for master sergeant. · Must have the recommendation and approval from the member's chain of command. · Must be willing to work long hours and some weekends. · Member must be able to be released for protocol training by May 1 and begin full time by June 1. Vehicle Operations hours change Effective April 1 the 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle operations hours of operations have changed. Vehicle Operations is located in Bldg. 995. Turn N' Burn Flight Kitchen midnight meals The Turn N' Burn flight kitchen will begin to serve midnight meals. The hours of operation are from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The kitchen is located in Bldg. 623, right between the Fire Department and 23rd Security Forces Squadron. For more information, call 229-257-3048. Hunter safety brief Active duty, retired, dependent, and Department of Defense civilian personnel planning to hunt on Moody must attend the annual base hunter safety brief which will be offered on March 24 at 5 p.m. The briefings will be held in Bldg. 701, in room 201. In addition to the base safety brief, members must obtain an M-class hunting permit through the 23rd Force Support Squadron outdoor recreation in Bldg. 907, and all applicable Georgia licenses. For those born after Jan. 1, 1961, they must attend a Georgia hunter safety course or provide proof of attendance at another state-sponsored hunter safety course. Becoming an Air Force officer There are different methods to becoming an Air Force officer, whether it's through an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, an Air Force ROTC scholarship, the Officer's Training School program or a direct commission. Hometown News release submissions Airmen can submit a DD Form 2266, Hometown News Release, electronically by clicking on the link via either the internal base website or the public website, www.moody.af.mil. Submissions can include a photo: minimum output 150 dpi, image size 4x5 to 5x7, JPEG format - compressed no lower than 60 percent, and saved as the submitter's last name. Appropriate newsworthy events for submission include promotions, graduations, new assignments, awards, decorations, reenlistment, retirement, etc. Submissions are reviewed by 23rd Wing Public Affairs before forwarding to the Army and Air Force Hometown News Service. HAZMART services The HAZMART office offers services such as waste minimization, hazardous waste curbside pick-up, compliance help, fluorescent light bulb disposal, waste disposal, help in completing waste profile forms, battery disposal, surplus hazardous material disposal and answering general questions about compliance with hazardous materials. Offices with excess or overstocked hazardous materials that are useable can arrange for their material to be removed by calling the HAZMART office. Useable hazardous materials will be placed into a free-issue inventory and made available to all offices that have authorization or approval to have the materials at their location.
