Publication submissions
To publicize an event on the Moody public website send all pertinent information to 23wg.pa2@moody.af.mil. All submissions must be received by noon on Thursday the week prior to publication.
The Valdosta Daily Times has assumed publication responsibility of the Moody Volunteer, so submission doesn't guarantee publication. All articles or briefs are subject to editing. For more information, contact the 23rd Wing Public Affairs office at 229-257-4146.

Parking lot closure
The Wing Deployment Control Center will be conducting cargo processing operations out of the parking lot behind the Fitness Center from noon on Oct. 26 until 6 p.m. on Oct. 27  in support of real-world deployment operations. Please ensure all POVs, GOVs and equipment are removed from this parking lot no later than noon on Oct.16 to avoid damage to vehicles and equipment. The parking lot will open for fitness center patron use at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27. Please direct any questions or concerns to 1st Lt. Caitlin Wettle, Installation Deployment Officer, at 229-257-4738.

Road closure
Moody is scheduled to have two road closures in the month of Nov. The first street that is scheduled to be closed is Dexter Street from Oct. 31 through Nov. 4. the closure stretching from Bradley Circle to Woolsley Street. The second street scheduled to close is Brookley Street. Nov. 7 through Nov.10 stretching from Dexter Street to Darque Bulivard.

Moody hunter safety brief
There will be a makeup Base hunter safety brief which is scheduled to be offered on October 26th. The class will be held in Building 701, located on 8219 Apron A Road, in room 201, A-10C Thunderbolt II phase hanger. Start time is scheduled to be at 5:30 p.m. In addition to the base safety brief, members must obtain a Moody Air Force Base hunting permit through MWR outdoor recreation supply, and all applicable Georgia licenses. If you were born after Jan. 1, 1961, you must attend a Georgia hunter safety course or provide proof of attendance at another state sponsored hunter safety course. DEERS Office
The DEERS Office, which includes ID cards, is projected for a hardware upgrade . Only one workstation will be in operation during these days. Customer Service will be able to reset CAC PINs and perform other essential tasks but we suggest customers avoid ID card and DEERS related actions, if possible, during Nov.8 through Nov. 10 because of the expected long wait time.

How to avoid thinking traps in relationships lunch and learn
A guest speaker will discuss the ways to address conflict in relationships by avoiding thinking traps. The lunch and learn is scheduled to be held at The Spot social room on Oct. 24 from noon to 1p.m. Contact family advocacy for more information or to sign up at 229-257-4805.

Challenges faced by dual military couples lunch and learn
The Military family life consultant will discuss challenges of dual military couples and how they can become even stronger as a team. National prescription drug take back bay
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 29, there will be one local pharmacy participating in the Drug Enforcement Agency's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day initiative. This is a venue for people to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. The pharmacy is Barnes Healthcare Services, located at 200 S. Patterson St., Valdosta. Pumpkin patrol
The 23rd Security Forces Squadron is scheduled to conduct OPERATION PUMPKIN PATROL on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. In order to provide a safe environment for families and visitors in Quiet Pines housing area during trick-or-treat activities. Quarterly Wing FOD Walk
The 23rd Wing quarterly foreign object and debris walk is scheduled for Oct. 21. All participating personnel will meet at bldg. 701 on the flightline side at 7 a.m. for a mass briefing. The uniform of the day will be the flight suit or ABU's. Be aware that members will be walking in the grass and a spare set of boots and socks is recommended. Hydrate before the walk as water will not be provided. Plastic bottles are permitted if members would like to bring a drink. For more information, contact Master Sgt. Anger management prevention class
The next class is scheduled be held on Oct. 25 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Family Advocacy Office. There is no documentation placed in the medical record for attending this class. For more information or to sign up, call Family Advocacy at 229-257-4805.

Couple's Communication Class
The Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program is a research and skills based program designed to help couples communicate and solve problems effectively. The next workshop will be held on Oct. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grassy Pond. Attire is casual dress. Lunch will be provided. PREP is a prevention program and is not designed for couples with serious problems. Engaged couples who attend this class can receive a Georgia marriage license for $16 rather than paying the regular fee of $51. Tater Tots
Tater Tots is an interactive play group for mothers, father and children from 6 weeks to 3 years old. The group will be meeting each Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Aerobics Center next to the Freedom II Fitness Center. Attendees should bring a small toy for their child.

Hometown News release submissions
Airmen can submit a DD Form 2266, Hometown News Release, electronically by clicking on the link via either the internal base website or the public website, www.moody.af.mil. Submissions can include a photo: minimum output 150 dpi, image size 4x5 to 5x7, JPEG format - compressed no lower than 60 percent, and saved as the submitter's last name.
Appropriate newsworthy events for submission include promotions, graduations, new assignments, awards, decorations, reenlistment, retirement, etc.
Submissions are reviewed by 23rd Wing Public Affairs before forwarding to the Army and Air Force Hometown News Service. Incomplete forms and noncompliant photos will not be approved. For more information, contact the Public Affairs office at 229-257-3345.

Toastmasters Club
Moody's Toastmasters Club is scheduled to hold meetings Thursdays at 11 a.m., in room 203 located in the Education Center. During meetings, members learn ways to practice and hone skills in communication and leadership. For more information, call 229-257-4734.

The Moody Spouses Club
The Moody Spouses Club is open to active duty, retired, Reserve, enlisted and officer spouses of any military rank and branch of service. Monthly meetings are held at the Moody Field Club. More information, including upcoming activities, can be obtained from www.themoodyspousesclub.com.
