All submissions must be received by noon on Thursday the week prior to publication. The Valdosta Daily Times has assumed publication responsibility of the Moody Volunteer, so submission doesn't guarantee publication. All articles or briefs are subject to editing. Comm. focal point closure Who: 23rd Communications Squadron comm. focal point (help desk) What: The focal point will be closed every Thursday from noon to 5 p.m. POC: During this time, the help desk will only respond to issues deemed mission essential by commanders and chiefs only. The help desk can be obtained by calling the standby number: 229-563-4797. Fall 2011 CCAF graduation Who: The Fall 2011 Community College of the Air Force graduation When: The graduation is scheduled to be held at Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. Where: At the Moody Field Club What: Families, friends, commanders, supervisors and coworkers are encouraged to recognize and celebrate this educational milestone and honor the achievements of the graduates. The CCAF is the only two-year institution serving enlisted personnel which awards an associate's in applied science degree. DEERS office upgrade Who: The DEERS Office, which issues ID cards What: The office is projected for a hardware upgrade and only one workstation will be in operation during these days. Customer service will be able to reset CAC pins and perform other essential tasks When: The upgrade is scheduled from Nov. 8 through the 10. Protestant early childhood formation coordinator wanted Who: The Moody Chapel What: The Chapel is currently accepting resumes for a part-time Protestant early childhood formation coordinator. Responsibilities include coordinating weekly Bible studies and activities, retreats, and other outings, recruiting volunteer teachers and workers. Contemporary worship praise team leader wanted Who: The Moody Chapel What: The Chapel is currently accepting resumes for a part-time Contemporary worship praise team leader. Responsibilities include leading the praise team and congregational singing during the Protestant Contemporary Worship Service, weeknight rehearsals and the ability to work with and under the guidance of the Chaplain. Road closure What: Moody is scheduled to have two road closures in the month of November. Where: The first street is Dexter Street from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4. The closure will stretch from Bradley Circle to Woolsley Street. The second street scheduled to close is Brookley Street. Nov. 7 to 10, stretching from Dexter Street to Darque Boulevard. Tater Tots Who: Tater Tots group What: The group is an interactive playgroup for mothers, father and children from 6 weeks to 3 years old. When: The group will be meeting each Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Aerobics Center next to the Freedom I Fitness Center. Attendees should bring a small toy for their child. Hometown News release submissions Airmen can submit a DD Form 2266, Hometown News Release, electronically by clicking on the link via either the internal base website or the public website, www.moody.af.mil. Submissions can include a photo: minimum output 150 dpi, image size 4x5 to 5x7, JPEG format - compressed no lower than 60 percent, and saved as the submitter's last name. Appropriate newsworthy events for submission include promotions, graduations, new assignments, awards, decorations, reenlistment, retirement, etc. Submissions are reviewed by 23rd Wing Public Affairs before forwarding to the Army and Air Force Hometown News Service. Toastmasters Club Who: Moody's Toastmasters Club What: During meetings, members learn ways to practice and hone skills in communication and leadership.
