New heating and air conditioning guidelines Published Dec. 6, 2011 By Jose Hernandez 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The Wing Energy Management Steering Group has directed Dec. 1 as the start of the heating season. All cooling systems controlled by EMCS will be turned off on that date. There is always the potential for a few days of unseasonably warm weather after that date, however, in the ongoing effort to reduce energy usage, air conditioning systems will not be turned on until cooling season begins in Spring 2012. Once this year's transition is complete, the EMSG established the thermostat set points for administrative space at the Air Force's standard of 69 degrees and 65 degrees for industrial or shop space. Also, please remember, per Headquarters Air Combat Command guidance, the use of personal space heaters is not permitted.
