Publication submissions
To publicize an event on the Moody public website send all pertinent information to 23wg.pa2@moody.af.mil. All submissions must be received by noon on Thursday the week prior to publication.
The Valdosta Daily Times has assumed publication responsibility of the Moody Volunteer, so submission doesn't guarantee publication. All articles or briefs are subject to editing. For more information, contact the 23rd Wing Public Affairs office at 229-257-4146.

Moody colonel confirmed for first star
Congratulations to Col. Scott Kindsvater, 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing commander, who was recently selected for promotion to brigadier general. Brig. Gen. (sel) Kindsvater commands 2,800 Airmen in three groups, including Moody's 820th Base Defense Group. Its personnel are heavily deployed for combat action to Afghanistan and provide rapidly deployable, fully integrated, highly specialized forces for active internal and external base defense. Kindsvater, was commissioned in 1989 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy and is a command pilot whose decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.

Air Force JROTC drill competition judges needed
Who: The N. B. Forrest High School AFJROTC, is scheduled to hold its 24th Annual drill competition
What: Number of volunteer judges required is atleast 35 or more and will judge 10 to 12 high schools. Refreshments and noon meal provided for judges.
When: Jan. 7, 2012. Show time for judges is 7 a.m. and expected completion time is 5 p.m.
Where: 5530 Firestone Road, Forrest High School, Jacksonville, Fl. 32244
Why: The school would like Moody members to provide support with judges for the competition.

Combined Federal Campaign kicks off at Moody AFB Nov. 15
What: The CFC supports eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

Georgia Military College Registration
Winter term registration is going on now. Moody offers Web Enhanced classes in
English Composition 1, 2 and English Lit, Speech, Management, Sociology, History and Accounting

Chow Hall
Civilians are now eligible to eat at the chow hall during dinner and on weekends.

Toys for tots
What: The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation gives the opportunity for people to touch the lives of local families by providing toys to children that otherwise would not be so fortunate.
Where: If you are interested in donating to this organization, you can do so by purchasing a new, unwrapped toy and placing it any of the donation boxes placed within units around base. There will also be a box at each entrance to the Exchange.
When: The last day for donations will be Dec. 21
POC: If you are interested in making a monetary donation, please make the check payable to "TOYS FOR TOTS FOUNDATION." You can contact Master Sgt. Jeffrey at 229-257-3971 or Master Sgt. Ronald Spradling at 229-257-3896 and they will pick it up.

Moody Runners Group
Who: The Moody Runners Group is looking for members from Moody and the local communities.
What: Join the group to share experiences, work out tips, info on upcoming running events and to find the motivation to get moving

Tater Tots
What: The Tater Tots group is an interactive playgroup for mothers, father and children from 6 weeks to 3 years old.
When: The group will be meeting each Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Aerobics Center next to the Freedom I Fitness Center. Attendees should bring a small toy for their child.

Hometown News release submissions

Airmen can submit a DD Form 2266, Hometown News Release, electronically by clicking on the link via either the internal base website or the public website, www.moody.af.mil. Submissions can include a photo: minimum output 150 dpi, image size 4x5 to 5x7, JPEG format - compressed no lower than 60 percent, and saved as the submitter's last name.
Appropriate newsworthy events for submission include promotions, graduations, new assignments, awards, decorations, reenlistment, retirement, etc.
Submissions are reviewed by 23rd Wing Public Affairs before forwarding to the Army and Air Force Hometown News Service. Incomplete forms and noncompliant photos will not be approved. For more information, contact the Public Affairs office at 229-257-3345.

Toastmasters Club
Who: Moody's Toastmasters Club
What: During meetings, members learn ways to practice and hone skills in communication and leadership.
When: The Club is scheduled to hold meetings Thursdays at 11 a.m.
Where: Meeting are held in room 203 in the Education Center.

The Moody Spouses Club
Who: The Moody Spouses Club
What: The Club is open to active duty, retired, Reserve, enlisted and officer spouses of any military rank and branch of service.
Where: Monthly meetings are held at the Moody Field Club.
