Military Justice Spotlight: non-judicial punishments for February

Moody Air Force Base, GA --  The following information is a summary of non-judicial punishments given by commanders under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice in February. The punishments are determined based on the individual facts and circumstances of each case.

A staff sergeant from the 723d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was derelict in the performance of duty. For this offense, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of a forfeiture of $400.00 pay per month for two months, 10 days extra duty and a reprimand.

An airman 1st class from the 822d Base Defense Squadron used marijuana. For this offense, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of reduction to airman basic and a reprimand.

An airman 1st class from the 23d Maintenance Group consumed alcohol under the legal age of 21, and made a false official statement. For these offenses, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of reduction to airman, forfeiture of $835.00 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.

A technical sergeant from the 23d Equipment Maintenance Squadron received two charges of dereliction of duty. The technical sergeant was also cruel to subordinates. For these offenses, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of reduction to staff sergeant, forfeiture of $1,506.00 pay, 23 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A senior airman from the 823d Base Defense Squadron was incapacitated for the performance of duties due to drunkenness. For this offense, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of a suspended reduction to airman 1st class and a reprimand.

A captain from the 75th Fighter Squadron used amphetamines. For this offense, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of forfeiture of $2,635.00 pay and a reprimand.

An airman 1st class from the 23d Security Forces Squadron was absent without leave. For this offense, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of a suspended reduction to airman, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant from the 23d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received two charges for failing to pay debts, and one charge for soliciting money from a subordinate. For these offenses, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of forfeiture of $300.00 pay and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant from the 23d Comptroller Squadron misused a controlled spending account, failed to obey a lawful order and signed a false official statement. For these offenses, the commander imposed non-judicial punishment of a suspended reduction to senior airman, forfeiture of $300.00 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.
