NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- U.S. Air Force Capt. Kevin Weaver, 66th Rescue Squadron helicopter pilot, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with valor for combat actions while deployed to Afghanistan.

In the Watapur Valley, Afghanistan, Capt. Weaver took intensive machine gun and rocket propelled grenade fire while performing a precision hover and hoist to evacuate eleven casualties.
