The Archdiocese for Military Services, USA, spent April 16 through 18 visiting Team Moody as well as the parish on base during his visit.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio met with the military community and presided over a Sacrament of Confirmation and Monday Mass during his visit, which was the first time he has visited since 2008 when he first took office.

"It was great to meet with not only the Catholic parish but with the base commander and the community at large," said Broglio. "It was interesting to learn about the unique mission that is performed here and its importance."

The archbishop's mission as Archdiocese is to provide pastoral and spiritual services to those serving in all five branches of the military, the U.S. Veterans Health Administration and V.A. medical centers.

In 2011 the Archbishop spent approximately 200 days traveling all over the world, including deployed locations, to speak with pastors and their parishes.

Broglio was named the fourth Archbishop of the Military Services, USA, Nov. 19, 2007 and was installed Jan. 25, 2008. Since then the archbishop has tried to spend every Christmas day overseas with deployed service members.

"I remember meeting the archbishop on Christmas Eve," said U.S. Air Force Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Stephen Voyt, 23d Wing chaplain. "When I was deployed, he spent Christmas Eve with the Air Force and Christmas Day with the Navy. "He is extremely professional and brings in a huge interaction from the church."

The Archdiocese serves approximately 1.5 million men and women. To meet these needs, the Archdiocese has three auxiliary bishops to assist the archbishop in his pastoral duties.

An upcoming trip for Broglio will be to England as part of his duties as Archbishop in support of Servicemembers stationed there.
