Restrictions associated with Grand Bay Published June 6, 2012 By Staff Sgt. Melissa K. Mekpongsatorn 23d Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIRFORCE BASE, Ga. -- Grand Bay Weapons Range and its surrounding airspace is used regularly by military personnel, Monday to Friday during various hours for tactical air and ground maneuvers as well as weapons training. Recreational or hunting enthusiasts may use range property, when made available, as part of the Wildlife Management Area but when doing so there are rules and restrictions that must be followed. "We ask that people observe the warning signs posted on the gates, fencing, and around the range perimeter," said P. Tillman, Grand Bay Range manager. "If you need access to the range contact the range control," he added. "Do not walk around the gates, remain outside of fencing, and do not venture on range property without authorization or clearance." Wildlife Management Area users can review safety briefings and observe warnings posted at the Georgia DNR check station at the public entry point on U.S. Highway 221. Observe and obey all signs posted on the perimeter of and throughout the range. Remain out of and do not disturb environmentally sensitive areas. Do not handle or disturb any objects or munitions found and remain outside of tanks and vehicles on the range. Recreational users should contact the local Georgia Department of Natural Resources office located on Grand Bay Range. Contact range personnel at 229-257-3510 or 229-257-2765 for more information.
