Spice and bath salts
On July 10, 2012, President Barack Obama passed the Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act of 2012, which specifically identifies a number of synthetic cannabinoids and cathinones, commonly known as “Spice” and “bath salts.” They have been placed under Schedule I of the Controlled Substance Act, meaning any military member caught using, distributing or in possession of the synthetic drugs can be charged for a violation of Article 112a under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
