Open House collects items for local community

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --  With the Moody Air Force Base Open House fast approaching, much is going on to ensure the event's success. One of the Open House's programs is the Awareness, Inspiration and Response (AIR) Initiative, which is to provide awareness of involvement opportunities, inspiration to its citizens, and response to community needs.

As part of the Response portion of AIR, Moody will collect non-perishable food items to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Valdosta and the Valdosta Community Food Kitchen.
"This is important, because this is Moody helping out our surrounding communities that are always willing to provide us the help and support we need," said Senior Airman Bradley Adcox, Airmen Committed to Excellence president and base food drive point of contact.

Various units around base have already begun to gather items at their designated collection locations. Those who are unsure of their unit's collection location can contact their unit's POC.

"If their squadron does not have a POC, they can drop off their items at the Parker Green Building," Adcox said. "Its boxes are set up right inside the front door."

Base members aren't the only ones getting involved though. Open House guests are also encouraged to donate goods for collection at the event.
