Publication submissions
To publicize an event on the Moody public website send all pertinent information to 23wg.pa2@moody.af.mil. All submissions must be received by noon on Thursday the week prior to publication.
The Valdosta Daily Times has assumed publication responsibility of the Moody Volunteer, so submission doesn't guarantee publication. All articles or briefs are subject to editing. For more information, contact the 23d Wing Public Affairs office at 229-257-4146.

Estate Claim: Senior Airman Jordan C. Bordelon
It is with deep sorrow that the Air Force announces the death of Senior Airman Jordan C. Bordelon, 823d Base Defense Squadron. Anyone having a claim against the estate of Bordelon can contact the appointed Summary Court Officer Capt. Wesley P Arnold at 229-257-6126 or 325-261-1068.

Annual Moody AFB Airmen Cookie Drive
The Annual Moody AFB Airmen Cookie Drive is being held on Dec. 3 and 4 at the base chapel. Homemade cookies and candies collected from military families and community members are packaged for the Moody Airmen living in the dormitories. You can support this project in several ways: donate home-baked cookies, donate home-made candies or sign up to work a couple of hours assembling cookie packages on Dec. 4. Cookie drop off will be on Monday, Dec. 3 from 7:30 a.m .- 5:30 p.m. Cookies can be placed in disposable storage containers or zip lock bags for drop off. You can email Anne Ramer at housecinc@aol.com or call 520-301-5858 if you would like to volunteer to assembly cookie packages on Dec. 4 between 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. or with any questions. Any amount of time you can spend helping out is welcome and we can't have too many volunteers for any time slot.

Job announcement: Protestant Early Childhood Formation Coordinator
The Moody AFB Chapel is currently accepting resumes for a part-time Protestant Early Childhood Formation Coordinator. Applicant must have a minimum 2 years experience providing total early childhood and teaching experience in planning, organizing and directing a Children's Ministry program. Responsibilities include coordinating weekly Bible studies and activities, retreats, other outings, and recruiting volunteer teachers and workers. The person must be positive, self-directed, motivated, and able to interface well with people. Applicant must be able to pass a security background investigation and/or provide documentation of current background investigation. For a complete Statement of Work and bid package, please contact Staff Sgt. Rosalind Wilson or Staff Sgt. Warrenette Mitchell at 229-257-3211. All bids and resumes must be submitted by Nov. 19, 2012, by 4 p.m. to the Moody Chapel. Basis of award will be the individual of best value.

Fungal Meningitis Outbreak
Moody Air Force Base is aware of a recent fungal meningitis outbreak from injectable drug products made by the New England Compounding Center (NECC). Per our logistics and quality checks, the 23d Medical Group has never received the brand/type of injectable medication in question. If you have any concerns, please contact Dr. Ronda Scott at the Patient Safety Office at 229-257-3685.

Hungry at Home
What: Hungry at Home will be taking donations of non-perishable food to help feed children in need.
Where: There will be boxes will be set up around base and in the local community.
Hungry at Home provides meals to under-privileged children who don't get enough to eat on the weekend when school meals are not provided.

Dads 101
What: Dads 101, a class that will teach new and expectant fathers how to care for a child.
When: The second Tuesday of every month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Family Advocacy programs
What: The Moody Family Advocacy Program offers many classes to help families. These classes include: Great Expectations, 1-2-3 Magic, Common Sense Parenting, Active Parenting for Teens, Prevention Anger Management and Couples Communication.
Agencies of the Integrated Delivery System which provide support include Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Chapel, Child Development Center, Drug Demand Reduction Program, Equal Opportunity, Health and Wellness Center, Mental Health Clinic, Moody School Liaison Officer, Moody Spouses Club, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program and the Youth Center.

Moody Runners Group
Who: The Moody Runners Group is looking for members from Moody and the local communities.
What: Join the group to share experiences, work out tips, info on upcoming running events and to find the motivation to get moving

Hometown News release submissions
Airmen can submit a DD Form 2266, Hometown News Release, electronically by clicking on the link via either the internal base website or the public website, www.moody.af.mil. Submissions can include a photo: minimum output 150 dpi, image size 4x5 to 5x7, JPEG format - compressed no lower than 60 percent, and saved as the submitter's last name.
Appropriate newsworthy events for submission include promotions, graduations, new assignments, awards, decorations, reenlistment, retirement, etc.
Submissions are reviewed by 23d Wing Public Affairs before forwarding to the Army and Air Force Hometown News Service. Incomplete forms and noncompliant photos will not be approved. For more information, contact the Public Affairs office at 229-257-3345.

The Moody Spouses Club
Who: The Moody Spouses Club
What: The Club is open to active duty, retired, Reserve, enlisted and officer spouses of any military rank and branch of service.
Where: Monthly meetings are held at the Moody Field Club.

Base Recycling Center Now Open Daily
Effective 1 October, CE re-opened the Solid Waste Management Facility, also known as the Base Recycling Center, for daily use. The facility is located off of Eiseman Road on the northeast corner of the base. The site will be open 0800-1400 Monday thru Friday. Please help us keep Moody clean by following these procedures.

Great Expectations
Expectant parents will learn resources available on-base and off-base for assistance during the pregnancy and information on Tricare, nutrition and exercise at the next class scheduled on Tue, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. - noon in the Family Advocacy Office. Please call Family Advocacy at 257-4805 for information or to sign up.

1-2-3 Magic
Parents with children ages 2-12 can learn how to effectively discipline their children using a counting technique. The class will be held on Thu, Nov. 15 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at The Spot. To sign-up please e-mail terri.carlton or call Family Advocacy at 257-4805.

Couples Communication Classes
Married and engaged couples are invited to attend the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP), a research-based program which helps couples communicate more effectively, resolve conflict and maintain safety. A two session PREP class will be offered on Sat, Nov. 3 and 10 from 9 a.m. - noon at the Base Chapel. Couples must attend both sessions. Additionally, a one day PREP class will be offered on Fri, Nov. 30 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at The Spot. Engaged couples who attend the PREP class will receive a reduced fee on their marriage license. They will only have to pay $16.00 instead of $56.00. This is NO documentation placed in the medical record for attending this program. How to Avoid Falling in Love with the Jerk(ette)
Single Airmen are invited to attend the class on Fri, Nov. 16 from noon - 4 p.m. at The Spot. Lunch is available for purchase. The class will start promptly at noon so if you are purchasing lunch, come at 11:30 a.m. All attendees will receive a certificate of participation.
