Team Moody and the local community spread holiday joy to Moody Airmen by preparing home-baked cookies Dec. 3, 2012.

Hosted by the Moody Spouses Club, the Annual Moody Airmen Cookie Drive collects homemade cookies from military families and community members for Airmen living in the dormitories.

"We are trying to bring holiday spirit to Airmen who usually do not have an opportunity to go home," said Julie Thompson, wife of U.S. Air Force Col. Billy Thompson, 23d Wing commander. "Hopefully, the cookies will give a taste of home to Airmen in the dormitories."

Team Moody and community members showed their appreciation for the Airmen by donating thousands of cookies. Local schools also decorated bags for the cookies.

"The cookie drive makes me feel appreciated," said Airman 1st Class Chad Easterly, 23d Wing Judge Advocate civil law paralegal apprentice. "It's a nice reminder that people really do care."

Also in part of the Cookie Drive was the Colossal Cookie, a contest to determine who made the best cookies based on taste, presentation and creativity.

Thanks to the Cookies that were donated by Team Moody and the local community, Airmen can feel closer to home during the holiday season.

"We have some Airmen who are away from their families for the first time, so this brings them some holiday joy," said Anne Ramer, wife of Col. Steven Ramer, 23d WG vice commander. "It also lets them know that as a community, we appreciate what they do for us."
