Moody scheduled to hold CAF Day May 17 Published May 14, 2013 Moody Integrated Delivery System MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Moody Air Force Base, Ga., is preparing to launch its Comprehensive Airman Fitness (CAF)/Safety Day on May 17. The overall goal is to improve well-being, reduce self-defeating behaviors, enhance work/life balance for Airmen and families, and strengthen personal readiness. CAF/Safety Day is not just another program, but rather, an initiative that instills in the Moody Air Force Base culture a philosophy of equipping Airmen, civilians and their families with ways and resources to function effectively, and thrive in a demanding military environment. The Integrated Delivery System (IDS) and Safety Office will provide activities for the day's events, which focuses on 101 Critical Days of Summer and CAF's Spiritual Pillar observing the theme: "A Strong Spirit Promotes Resiliency." CAF/Safety Day kicks-off at 7 a.m. with a 2.3-mile run. The 23d Wing and 93d AGOW will participate in the run. At 10 a.m. at the wing auditorium, the 23d Wing IDS and Safety Office will host the Street Smart Program, presented by certified firefighter/paramedics from Florida's Stay Alive From Education (SAFE) program. Three presentations will consist of audience participation in discussions of how tragic outcomes can occur when driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. In an effort to ensure Airmen working irregular shifts are afforded an opportunity to participate in CAF/Safety Day, the documentary "Inside Combat Rescue" will be shown via Internet Protocol Television (IPTV). The 40-minute presentation depicts two very different extremes of spiritual resiliency. The 24-minute video "Breaking Stigma" can also be viewed via IPTV. The video employs a full range of information geared toward educating Soldiers, leaders and family members of primary stigma factors and barriers to care, as well as best practices for mitigating behavioral health stigmas. Group discussions are scheduled at the unit level in order to provide Airmen an opportunity to express their spiritual beliefs and/or religious practices. Four core questions planned by the wing chaplain will initiate the discussions that will be facilitated by NCOs. Facilitators will ensure participation, productivity and direction throughout the discussion process. The scheduled events for CAF/Safety Day provide many tools to enhance well-being and assist in reducing self-defeating behaviors.
