Moody to host medical benefits town hall

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – Moody’s 23d Medical Group will host an informational town hall to address concerns regarding a change to healthcare benefits as approximately 1,560 beneficiaries will soon be re-assigned to off-base TRICARE providers.

All beneficiaries who have questions or concerns are encouraged to attend the town hall meeting on Thursday, 26 July, at 6:00 pm in the Moody Field Club Ball Room.

The adjustment to policy is the result of a mandate issued by the U.S Air Force Medical Service which effectively limits Moody’s clinic to 8,800 beneficiaries, with the goal of providing the best possible care to Active Duty Airmen and their dependents.

“We are thankful for our retiree population and all they have done for the base and our country. However, this change is necessary to support active duty and to be sure their dependents are taken care of while they are home, and especially while our airmen are deployed,” said Col. Jay Vietas, 23d MDG commander. “We are confident that this change will result in the best ‘Trusted Care’ for all beneficiaries.”

Although these beneficiaries will no longer be assigned a provider on Moody AFB, they will still have access to Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, and limited diagnostic services as well as beneficiary counseling and assistance services.

This event is not a press event, but a forum for beneficiaries to receive information and resources. Queries regarding this release can be directed to the 23d Wing Public Affairs Office at (229) 257-4146.
