More than 200 Airmen and 10 A-10 Thunderbolt II, “Warthogs”, from the 924th Fighter Group of the 944th Fighter Wing are working out of Marine Corp Base Hawaii, August 1, 2024, during the unit’s participation in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024, July 22 to Aug. 1 in and around the Hawaiian Islands. This year is the final time the 924th FG will participate in RIMPAC as the unit is being deactivated in 2025. Hawaii holds a lot of history for the 47th Fighter Squadron as their historical lineage begins with Lieutenants Kenneth Taylor and George Welch during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The squadron was still stationed at Wheeler Field on 7 December 1941 with the attack happening all around them, Taylor and Welch were two of the first airborne and they we able to shoot down at least 6 Japanese aircraft. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans. RIMPAC 2024 is the 29th exercise in the series that began in 1971. (U.S. Air Force video by Master Sgt. Courtney Richardson)

About Moody Bridge Chat

Bridge Chat's purpose is to create cohesive, high-performing teams that foster trust and connection through flexible and consistent small group discussions; in direct response to overwhelming feedback from the CSAF 21's Resilience Tactical Pause.

Caring for our Wingmen is what defines us as Airmen, so we must work to get to know our teammates and the challenges they face. We all have the same responsibility of creating the workplace we want and supporting the people we share our lives with.

Bridge Chat topics are posted here monthly to encourage small group discussions within teams. Beginning the process of recurring discussions can be difficult, but will become easier with time and reinforce the Flying Tiger culture.

To help us initiate and facilitate these discussions, we have included a guide that defines roles and ground rules.

The Flying Tiger Bridge Chat Facilitator provides facilitator trainings for base personnel. Their goal is to create squadron facilitators who take action on ACC's goal of equipping, engaging and empowering Airmen with resilience tools and create high-performing teams who look out for each other. To schedule training, contact 229-257-3211.
