Lt. Col. Brett J. Flickinger is the Commander, 23d Mission Support Group, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, home of the Air Force’s legendary “Flying Tigers.” He leads a diverse group of more than 1.5 thousand military, civilian and contractors providing support and services to more than 28 thousand active-duty and retired military and family members. His group of six squadrons executes an annual budget of more than $58 million and maintains an installation with 830 facilities and more than 117 thousand acres, including adjacent bombing and strafing ranges, drop and landing zones in support of A-10C, HC-130J, HH-60W, and Guardian Angel forces as well as a tenant base defense group. He is responsible for ensuring the readiness of support forces to mobilize and deploy to build, secure and sustain air base operations at austere bare base locations anywhere in the world.
Lt. Col. Flickinger was born at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany and is a 2006 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. As a maintainer, he began his career at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico working on the F-117A Nighthawk. Since then, Lt. Col. Flickinger has served as officer in charge of numerous aircraft maintenance units and off-equipment maintenance flights and was a maintenance operations officer and commander. He is a 2013 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Advance Maintenance and Munitions Operations School at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. He also served as the executive officer to the commander, 57th Wing and the U.S. Air Forces Central Command A3 Directorate. Prior to his current position, Lt. Col. Flickinger was the Deputy Commander of the 23d Maintenance Group, Moody AFB, Georgia.
