Colonel MARK B. DUDLEY

Col. Mark B. Dudley is the medical treatment facility director and commander of the 23rd Medical Group, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, home of the historic "Flying Tigers". Here, 5,000 assigned Airmen lead pararescue and combat airfield operations employing HC-130J Combat King ll aircraft, HH-60W Jolly Green ll aircraft, and A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft. His staff of 290 serves over 11,000 beneficiaries in eight facilities, with a $12M annual operating budget and an additional $23M in purchased care. The group also maintains 46 combat programs and war reserve materiel valued at $3.4M. The Medical Group provides outpatient family medicine, pediatric, dental, occupational, operational flight medicine, mental health, and preventive health services, as well as pararescue support programs in support of the 23d Fighter Wing and 93d Air Ground Operational Wing.

Col. Dudley commissioned into the Air Force in 2007 through the Air Force Financial Assistance Program during his final year of medical school. Col. Dudley is a graduate of the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a civilian residency in family medicine at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he served as Co-Chief Resident, and is board-certified in family medicine. Following his residency, he served as a staff physician at the 2nd Medical Group, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Col. Dudley later matriculated to the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), completing his second residency in aerospace medicine in June 2022 and is also board-certified in aerospace medicine.

Following his completion of the Aerospace Medicine Primary Courses in 2013, Col. Dudley was assigned to Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, where he served as a flight surgeon for the 12th Airborne Command and Control Squadron and as interim flight commander for the 78th Aerospace Medicine Squadron's Flight Medicine Clinic. He was then assigned to Aviano Air Base, Italy, where he served as flight commander of the 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron's Flight and Operational Medicine Clinic. He later became chief of Aerospace Medicine for the 31st Medical Group and commander of the 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron. As commander, his unit provided primary operational medical support to 8,400 beneficiaries, including 4,500 active-duty personnel and 700 geographically separated personnel, optimizing human performance in support of U.S. and NATO objectives in Southern Europe. After completing his residency in aerospace medicine, Col. Dudley served as chief of Flight and Operational Medicine and later as deputy division chief of Aerospace and Operational Medicine. In this role, he oversaw 61 personnel across three sections: Bioenvironmental Engineering, Flight and Operational Medicine Operations and Public Health. He also served as an advisor on Aerospace and Operational Medicine to the chief of the Aerospace and Operational Medicine Division, the Department of the Air Force Surgeon General, the Secretary of the Air Force, and Congress. Prior to his assignment, Col. Dudley served as deputy director of Policy and Resources at the Office of the Surgeon General, Department of the Air Force, overseeing six divisions and 42 healthcare professionals, ensuring policies, programs and resources align with the strategic and operational objectives of the Air Force Medical Service in support of 44,000 medical personnel.

Col. Dudley deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as a staff family medicine physician in 2013, and in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE in 2016 as a flight surgeon. He has logged 380.6 flight hours, including 26.9 hours in combat operations. He holds a Masters Degree of Public Health from the University of South Carolina and Military Operational Science from Air University.
