Starting May 1, the Moody Veterinary Clinic will not be operating at its full capacity.

U.S. Army Capt. (Dr.) Megan Branham, officer in charge of veterinary services, will be leaving Moody Air Force Base, Ga., meaning the clinic will not be accepting any animals until a replacement veterinarian arrives.

"The new doctor is expected to be here by the end of July," said Branham. "She probably won't be seeing patients until August, but we encourage people to call in throughout the summer to check and see if we have any updates or appointments can be schedule."

During the months of May to July, the hours of operation for the veterinary clinic will be Monday through Friday 8 am to 12pm for limited services.

"The clinic will be open for people who have active prescriptions with us so they can refill medication if needed," added Branham. "The staff will also be able to do nail trims [and other limited services] if necessary."

Branham added because Moody is unable to do final out-processing appointments for animals of military members who are PCSing, it would be in their best interest to try to go to another base vet within the region.

"The final out-processing check up is free if you go to an on-base veterinarian," she added. "It's also easier to make sure the correct tests and shots are being administered if necessary."

If an appointment is needed, the clinic is referring patients to downtown veterinaries until they reopen.

"With the vet closing it becomes less convenient for military members that live on-base [who would have] to travel downtown," said Shelly Lanthorn, military dependent. "The price difference is an inconvenience as well."
