Georgia declared a level one drought for the entire state recently, requiring Moody members to follow a more stringent outdoor water-use schedule.

“We have studied conditions around the state, and our findings show drought conditions exist throughout Georgia,” said Carol Couch, Georgia Environmental Protection Division director. “It’s important citizens conserve water now to help ensure there is sufficient water supply in the coming months.”

A level one drought declaration means Moody members will need to follow statewide limits placed on the outdoor water use.

All Moody members, whether they live in base housing or the local area, must comply with the new outdoor watering schedule, said Elvis Lane, 347th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental specialist.

The new statewide, outdoor watering schedules are the following:
- Odd-numbered addresses may water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 4 p.m. until 10 a.m.
- Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses may water Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. until 10 a.m.

“Don’t water your lawn during the middle of the day,” said Mr. Lane. “The heat will dry up the water and not benefit the lawn.

“It’s also important to report any leaking faucets found on base and to make sure all water is turned off when not using it,” he said.

To report a leaking faucet on base, call the 347th CES help desk at 257-3678.

The level one drought is the least severe level of drought, however, EPD continues to monitor conditions statewide and will issue revised drought declarations as necessary.
