Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Published Oct. 5, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Parker Gyokeres 23rd Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Moody once again is offering military and federal employees the opportunity to help others in need as it kicked off the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign Oct 1. This is a great opportunity for all federal employees to give to over 1,500 charity organizations, said 2nd Lt. Jeremiah Gottberg, 23rd Wing CFC representative. Last year, Team Moody raised $111,391 in donations. "On average, one in four federal employees or their dependents will benefit from the CFC charities this year alone," said Lieutenant Gottberg. "Donors may designate which charities receive their money by filling out a pledge card. Contributions can be in cash, check or by payroll deduction." Trained representatives in every unit will make face-to-face contact with every 23rd Wing member in the coming weeks, he said. Their goal is for 100 percent contact during the six week drive, which runs through Dec. 15. In 2006, federal employees and military members donated more than $271.6 million to the CFC. Military and civilian members who are deployed during the campaign will participate in the overseas CFC at their deployed location where access is available to the same national and international charities. The CFC guide has also made it easy for those wishing to donate locally, said Lieutenant Gottberg. "Anyone can contribute to the local organizations and unaffiliated agencies by choosing a charity located on the first two pages of the CFC book," Lieutenant Gottberg added. "These have a direct impact on the local Moody community." The CFC was established in 1961 and is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country. This annual fall fund-raising drive allows nearly four million federal employees and military personnel to contribute to thousands of local and national nonprofit organizations.
