Moody Traffic Management to regionalize Published Feb. 25, 2008 By 23rd Logistic Readiness Squadron MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, GA -- Moody's traffic management flight will be regionalizing their personal property functions with the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office in San Antonio, Texas, beginning April 1. As a result of the regionalization, the 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron's traffic management flight will transition to a liaison function between the customer and JPPSO-SAT. The goal is to make a seamless transfer to the new process and provide our customers with the best possible service, said Dave Talley, 23rd Wing Traffic Management officer. "This will eliminate the middle man and allow the customers the opportunity to deal directly with the source." The traffic management flight will still provide personal property move counseling and quality control while the regionalized JPPSO-SAT will handle the back-office functions, such as booking personal-property shipments and storage, scheduling personal-property delivery and storage, and arranging all payments associated with the transportation and storage of servicemembers' personal property. "With certain front office functions removed, it will give us a better chance to improve our quality control inspection rate and spend more time with customers during their move," said Mr. Talley. Here are some tips for more efficient service: - Customers should make an appointment as soon as they get PCS orders which allows adequate time for the booking section to get a carrier arranged. Being flexible with scheduling dates is important because specific dates may not be available. - Provide good contact information for origin pickup, in-transit and destination. It's best to use a cell phone or a number that will not change throughout your move process. - Once a date is booked, an automated phone call and e-mail confirming the carrier, local agent's contact information and the pack/pickup dates will be sent. JPPSO-SAT will not change pack/pickup dates unless an emergency situation arises. - After a customer reports to their new duty station, they should immediately notify the destination traffic management flight with contact information and delivery instructions. Keep in mind that delivery from temporary storage could take several days or weeks during the summer, depending on location. Both JPPSO and the Moody TMF encourage customers to be proactive with their moves from counseling appointment to final delivery. Timely communication between the customer, TMO and JPPSO-SAT is extremely important to ensure a seamless move, explained Mr. Talley.
