Bryan Franks 23rd Wing Public Affairs DESTIN, Fla. -- A Moody civilian was among 58 Airmen recently recognized during the 9th Air Force 2007 Annual Awards ceremony here. During the ceremony, Robert Le Fever, director of Operations for the 820th Security Forces Group at Moody, was recognized with his fellow award recipients for their accomplishments and service to the Air Force. Over the past year, Airmen have deployed heavily throughout the Central Command theater and provided support to the Central Air Force operation and the Combined Air Operations Center. "Back home, 9th Air Force is comprised of six dynamic wings located in the eastern United States and three direct reporting units, with more than 350 aircraft and 24,000 active duty and civilian personnel," said Capt. Eddie Adams, co-master of ceremonies for the annual awards. A selected few were winners of the annual award in the categories of best Airman, noncommissioned officer, senior noncommissioned officer, first sergeant, company grade officer, field grade officer and civilian category I and II. The winners are: Airman category - Senior Airman Adam LaBarr, 4th FW at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. NCO category - Staff Sgt. Thomas Blandino, 4th FW at Seymour Johnson AFB SNCO category - Master Sgt. Tammy Turnbull, 9th AF headquarters at Shaw AFB, S.C. First Sergeant category - Master Sgt. Pamela Hadsell, 1st FW at Langley AFB, Va. CGO category - Capt. Laura Chavez, 1st FW at Langley AFB Civilian I category - Mr. William Johnston, 1st FW at Langley AFB Civilian II category - Mr. Robert Le Fever, director of Operations for the 820th Security Forces Group at Moody "The 9th Air Force has played a pivotal role in the United States endeavor, championing the critical mission of projecting decisive air and space power for United States Central Command and America," said Senior Master Sgt. Rob Hudson, co-master of ceremonies. There are five active-duty flying wings under the numbered command and they have the responsibility of overseeing the operational readiness of 18 designated units of the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. "These Airmen exemplify what is best about today's Air Force. Command Chief Master Sgt. Scott Dearduff and I, along with the Airmen of 9th Air Force, their families and friends, are very proud of our award recipients," Lt. Gen. Gary North, 9th Air Force commander said.
