Up to $700 worth of discounts is available through the revamped PLAYpass program for single Airmen returning from deployment and families of members deployed since Dec. 31, 2010.

The discount cards can be used at 23rd Force Support Squadron facilities with the intention of helping Airmen and their families reunite with each other and the community after a deployment.

"This is just another way the Air Force is showing that it's serious about giving back to the families," said Senior Master Sgt. Donald Howard, PLAYpass point of contact, and Airman and Family Readiness Center flight superintendent. "It's important to help families and single Airmen reintegrate after returning from a deployment."

Last year, the program was only available to families. This year, both families and single Airmen will get the same benefits, with children having added benefits.

"We're excited to expand this program to single Airmen to provide deployment rest and help with reintregration," said Linda Weston, Air Force Services Agency marketing specialist.

The cards offer coupons toward a large variety of activities including life skills classes such as dancing or scuba, recreational activities such as contests, and youth sports and classes.

While the families can't transfer their discounts, single Airmen are allowed to bring a friend and they only have to pay for the difference of the service after the coupon is used.

Single parents whose dependents also have ID cards receive the family card.

There are a few restrictions to this program, but Airmen or family members should call the AFRC at 229-257-3333 or visit them in Building 400 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get all additional information. A copy of deployment orders is needed to be issued a PLAYpass.
