Moody ‘rucks the distance’ during POW/MIA Recognition Day
2nd Lt. Daniel Walker, 823d Base Defense Squadron flight commander, calls out jodies during the POW/MIA Recognition Day ruck march, Sept. 21, 2018, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. In 1979, the United States Congress passed a resolution authorizing National POW/MIA Recognition Day to be observed together with the national effort of bringing isolated personnel home. For the first-time, the 347th Operations Support Squadron hosted a ruck march to pay tribute to those who’ve been captured or missing in the line of duty by carrying a POW/MIA flag for 24 hours.
