  • Moody pilot finds purpose through different ‘lens’

    It was a hot day in south Georgia. The buzzards were buzzing and the gnats were swarming, but that didn’t keep one Team Moody pilot from practicing his purpose as a volunteer photographer at a local horse therapy farm. After battling depression in 2018, Capt. John Roling, 71st Rescue Squadron operations flight commander, found purpose in life by using his passion for photography to capture memories for people in the community.

    More than 20 Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets gained a first-hand experience of the Air Force mission during Operation Air Force 2018, here. From June 2-Aug. 1, three groups of cadets from across the nation participated in the annual program which gave them an opportunity to see the operational Air Force’s mission and lifestyle before choosing a career as an officer.
  • Airmen partner toward quicker deployments

    Rescue Airmen from the 23d Wing visited the Devil Raiders of the 621st Contingency Response Wing (CRW), May 21-23, to better understand the essential assets to stand up rescue operations from bare-base situations. Although the 23d Wing’s mission to organize, train, equip and maintain combat-ready for Air Combat Command, and the 621st CRW focuses on rapidly organizing and standing up bare bases for Air Mobility Command aircraft, they both believed they could learn from each other.
  • 23d Wing conducts surge exercise

    Aircraft from the 23d Wing conducted a surge exercise May 22, 2017, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The exercise was conducted in order to demonstrate the wing's ability to rapidly deploy combat ready forces across the globe. The 23d Wing maintains and operates A-10C Thunderbolt IIs, HH-60G Pave Hawks, and HC-130J Combat King II aircraft for precision attack, personnel recovery and combat support worldwide.
