Attendees of the Valdosta City Schools (VCS) 2019 Teacher of the Year Banquet socialize before the event begins, Sept. 5, 2019, at the Rainwater Conference Center, Valdosta, Ga. This year the VCS system named Melvina Murray, Valdosta City Schools (VCS) Teacher of the Year award recipient and Team Moody spouse, as one of two recipients to recognize her hard work and dedication before the Murray family relocates to California mid-September. Murray’s leadership described her as a VCS educator who not only embodies her school’s core expectations of integrity first, respect for yourself and others, and excellence in all we do, but also consistently placed service before herself.
