MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, often referred to as Sept. 11 or 9/11, were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks upon the United States in 2001. The death toll of the attacks was 2,996 people, including the 19 hijackers. The majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals from more than 70 countries.
