Colonel Jeffery D. Valenzia is the Commander, 93d Air Ground Operations Wing, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. The Wing consists of 3 groups with over 2,800 Battlefield Airmen at 20 locations throughout the Continental U.S., supporting 8 out of the 10 active duty US Army Divisions. Subordinate units are the 3d Air Support Operations Group (ASOG) at Fort Hood, Texas; the 18th Air Support Operations Group at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and the 820th Base Defense Group (BDG) at Moody AFB. The ASOGs provide Air, Space, and Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance expertise to plan, coordinate, and execute the supported ground commander’s scheme of maneuver. The ASOGs also provide all Battlefield Weather support to Army units, both in-garrison and at deployed locations. The 820 BDG provides rapidly deployable, fully integrated, highly specialized forces for active internal and external base defense.


Colonel Valenzia earned his commission from Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 075 and received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from San Diego State University in 1994. After a few years as a Command and Control Officer, he completed Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training and F-16 initial training. He has flown operational F-16s at Shaw AFB, Osan AB, and Kunsan AB, in addition to a tour as an instructor pilot at Luke AFB. In 2007, he departed Luke AFB for Maxwell AFB, where he graduated Air Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. After a year assigned to the 609th Combined Air Operations Center at Al Udeid AB, Qatar, as a Strategy Planner, Colonel Valenzia took command of the 51st Operations Support Squadron at Osan AB, Republic of Korea. In 2012, he was assigned to the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, Washington D.C., as a Special Assistant to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, followed by a year as the Vice Wing Commander for the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea. He has deployed in support of Operations NORTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
