Col. Jason A. Purdy is the Commander, 23d Maintenance Group, 23d Wing, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, home of the Air Force’s legendary “Flying Tigers.” The group provides safe, reliable and effective maintenance on 49 A-10C, 9 HC-130J, and 9 HH-60W aircraft valued at $2.3 B. He leads over 1,800 personnel in one of the Air Force’s largest combat coded maintenance groups and ensures their ability to deploy aircraft, personnel, and cargo worldwide to conduct forward air control, close air support, air interdiction, and both civilian and combat search and rescue missions.
Col. Purdy graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1999. Since his commissioning, he has held various wing-level maintenance leadership positions supporting A/OA-10, B-1B, C-130, E-8, F-15E, F-16C/D, and KC/RC-135 aircraft. Those duties included Flight Commander, Officerin- Charge, Maintenance Operations Officer and Commander. Additionally, he has served on the National Guard Bureau staff, Headquarters Air Force staff, and United States Special Operations Command staff. Prior to selection for his current duty position, Col. Purdy served as the Director of Joint and National Security Council Matters, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Headquarters Air Force, Washington DC.
