  • MOODY AFB HEF SYSTEM ACTIVATED

    The high expansion foam system in the Fuels Barn, Hangar 646, was activated during a lightning storm Feb. 6 at approximately 7 p.m. Five HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters were inside at the time of the activation. No personnel were present. Moody AFB fire department, civil engineering and maintenance professionals responded immediately.

  • MOODY AFB PLANS ACTIVE-SHOOTER RESPONSE EXERCISE

    The 23d Wing at Moody Air Force Base is scheduled to hold an active-shooter response exercise between Jan. 27-31, 2020, to test the Wing’s capability to respond to an active-shooter event. 
  • Starting on Jan. 1, 2020, veterans with service-connected disabilities and their primary caregivers will have shopping privileges at the MacDill Air Force Base Exchange, commissary and eligible base recreation facilities with a Department of Veterans Affairs issued Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). Veterans must be enrolled in the VA health care system to receive a VHIC. To enroll, you can complete an application for enrollment in VA health care by telephone without the need for a signed paper application. Just call 1-877-222-VETS (8387) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Eastern. You can also apply for VA healthcare benefits online at www.va.gov/healthbenefits/enroll, or in person at your local VA medical facility. Once your enrollment is verified, you can have your picture taken at your local VA medical center, and a VHIC will be mailed to you. (Graphic by Department of Veterans Affairs)

    EXPANDED ACCESS TO MAFB FOR SOME VETERANS

    Some Veterans are eligible for access to the Moody Air Force Base commissary, exchange and morale, welfare and recreation services as of Jan. 1, 2020. Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war, veterans with service-connected disabilities, and individuals approved and designated as the primary family caregivers of eligible veterans under the Department of Veterans Affairs Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers will now have access to the facilities.

    MOODY AFB HOSTS THUNDER OVER SOUTH GEORGIA

    Moody Air Force Base is scheduled to host Thunder Over South Georgia Community Appreciation Open House, Nov. 2-3, 2019. This event is free and open to the public and features acts such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, the U.S. Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt II Demo Team, the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Wings of Blue, the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight Demo Team, and a Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Demonstration.
