SPEKs keep deployed Airmen fed

Tech. Sgt. Aaron Smelser, 23d Force Support Squadron dining facility manager, holds tent structure parts in place for the tent that will shelter the single pallet expeditionary kitchen Jan. 10, 2020, at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. The 23d FSS practices building SPEKs at least once every two years to demonstrate their capability to provide meals for 550 Airmen in an austere environment. SPEKs are mobile kitchens that can be assembled in less than three hours by a team of approximately eight Airmen. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Jasmine M. Barnes)
